Summer, 1976. Bea is 16 years old and becomes inspired by the winds of change that are sweeping the country. She joins a group of women whose aim is to help feminist cause become more visible and to secure women’s right to a legal abortion. The rebelliousness that Bea feels in her blood, combined with sudden, unexpected feelings, will turn her world upside down. Over the course of months, Bea will form a very special friendship with Maider, a girl who is somewhat older than her and from a good family. Her commitment to politics and her relationship with Maider will turn the summer of ‘76 into a pivotal moment in her life.
About Director
Actress, film and theater director and screenwriter. After an extensive career as an actress where she took part in more than fifty films and Goya award for her role in Alas de mariposa (1991), in 1998 she turned to directing films and theater. She won her second Goya as a director for Lalia (1999), her first documentary short film, followed by the feature Pretextos and documentary Gala (2003). She has also directed eight films for tv, for which she has also written the screenplays. Her adaptation of the Catalan classic El café de la Marina has won numerous awards. After her latest feature-length documentary La granja del Pas (2015), In the Company of Women is her latest film.
