Etero, a 48-year-old woman living in a small village in Georgia, never wanted a husband. She cherishes her freedom as much as her cakes. But her choice to live alone is the cause of much gossip among her fellow villagers. Unexpectedly, she finds herself passionately falling for a man and is suddenly faced with the decision to pursue a relationship or continue a life of independence. Etero must grapple with her feelings and decide how to find her own path to happiness.
About Director
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Elene Naveriani studied painting at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. In 2011, they received a Master’s degree in Cybermedia Curatorial Criticism and in 2014 a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema from HEAD - Geneva. Their first feature film I Am Truly A Drop Of Sun On Earth (2017) premiered at International Rotterdam Film Festival and won awards at Entrevues Belfort and Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid. Their short film Red Ants Bite (2019) premiered at International Rotterdam Film Festival and Wet Sand at Locarno Film Festival (2021). BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD BLACKBERRY (2023) had its world premiere at the Cannes 2023 Directors' Fortnight and has won numerous festival awards.
