Nida Karabol
Born in İstanbul, she graduated from Italian High School and the Sociology Department of İstanbul University. Since high school, she has started to take part in the copyright agency Umut Art Products, founded by her mother. Here, she found an opportunity to get to know the world cinema and cinemas by country, international events, and festivals. She represented in particular Italian, French, Spanish, Czech, and Hungarian films of European independent cinema and tv institutions in Türkiye. As Umut Art, they opened movie theaters in cities with universities to introduce these films to young audiences. While the company's representation and distribution activities continued, she established the production department. In 1995, she produced the film Istanbul Under My Wings directed by Mustafa Altıoklar, and in 2000, Offside directed by Serdar Akar within Umut Art. Istanbul Under My Wings was hailed as the film that brought Turkish films back to movie theaters.
She was the producer of the films The Play (2005), 10 to 11 (2009), and Watchtower (2012) directed by Pelin Esmer. She has received numerous national and international awards and has completed all her feature-length works with international funds and co-producers. She has produced various movie music albums, preschool education, and short films. Between 1996 and 2007, she served on the Board of Directors of Sesam. Between 2007-2011, she was the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Se-yap (Film Producers’ Association of Türkiye), which she founded. She has been a jury member for many national and international film festivals, currently works as a film production consultant, and continues to represent the format rights of Paramount and CBS television in Türkiye at Umut Sanat.
