About the Festival
Flying Broom
WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL
The Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival, Turkey's first women's film festival, has been organised by the Flying Broom Foundation in Ankara for 27 years. The festival brings feature-length, documentary and short films by women filmmakers and the audience together. Flying Broom is the first women's film festival to have a FIPRESCI jury, which sends juries to the world's most important festivals such as Cannes, Berlin and Rotterdam. Every year, the FIPRESCI jury evaluates the Each Has a Different Colour section of the festival and awards prizes. Strengthening its programme with panels and events, the festival also aims to strengthen solidarity networks among women.
Each year, the festival presents the Honour Award, the Bilge Olgaç Merit Award, the theme award and the Young Witch Award to names who have contributed to cinema.
